Companionship with Understanding

Supporting older people to remain connected, independent and valued.

SAATH provides trusted companionship and practical social support for older people across London. Whether it is sharing a cup of tea, enjoying a conversation, accompanying someone to an appointment, going shopping together or simply having a familiar face visit regularly, our companions are there to bring connection and reassurance into everyday life.

“SAATH means together.”

And sometimes, having someone beside you can make all the difference.

More Than Company

Loneliness does not always look like loneliness

An older person may have a loving family and still spend long periods of the week alone. Children and relatives may live elsewhere, work full-time or have responsibilities of their own. Families often want to be there more, but everyday life can make that difficult.

SAATH provides another trusted presence.

We are not here to replace family.
We are here to stand alongside it.

Family Updates

Companionship That Feels Familiar

Cultural understanding makes companionship more meaningful

Where possible, we consider preferences including:
  • Language
  • Cultural background
  • Faith and religious practices
  • Food and dietary traditions
  • Interests and hobbies
  • Personality and communication style

Our aim is not simply to send someone to visit. Our aim is to create companionship that feels natural, respectful and comfortable.

Peace of Mind for Families

When you cannot always be there yourself

Knowing that someone trusted is spending meaningful time with your parent or relative can bring valuable reassurance. SAATH companions are carefully recruited and checked, with appropriate safeguarding procedures in place.

How SAATH Works

Finding the right companion should feel personal

A gentle journey, from first conversation to a familiar face who visits regularly.
  1. 01

    Start With a Conversation

Contact SAATH by telephone, email or our enquiry form and tell us a little about the person you are seeking companionship for.

  2. 02

    Getting to Know You

An initial conversation to understand circumstances, personality, routines, interests and preferences.

  3. 03

    Compatibility & Matching

We consider which available companion may be most compatible — language, personality, interests, culture and practicalities.

  4. 04

    Introduction

Where possible, an introductory meeting allows everyone to become acquainted. Companionship should never feel forced.

  5. 05

    Regular Visits

Once everyone is happy, regular visits begin, shaped by the agreed companionship arrangement.

  6. 06

    Staying Connected

Arrangements are kept under review, with feedback welcomed from everyone involved.

At SAATH, we believe no elder should face life alone.

Our Promise

Companionship

We build meaningful relationships.

Care

We treat every person as we would our own family.

Respect

We honour every individual's story, choices and experiences.

Trust

Families place their confidence in us, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Community

We strengthen connections between generations and communities.

Independence

We encourage older people to remain active, engaged and involved.

A Simple First Step

You do not need to know exactly what support is required

The first step is simply a conversation. We can talk about your circumstances, the person who may benefit from companionship and what kind of support could make everyday life a little easier.
