For Families
When You Cannot Always Be There

Are they lonely?
Have they spoken to anyone today?
Are they getting out of the house?
Would they tell me if something was wrong?
We Do Not Replace Family
Family relationships are irreplaceable. Our role is to complement them. A SAATH companion can provide company during the hours or days when relatives cannot be there, while helping an older person remain socially connected and engaged.
Keeping Families Informed
With the older person's agreement, we can provide appropriate updates following visits. The type and frequency of updates can be agreed when the companionship arrangement begins. We also respect the older person's privacy, independence and right to make their own decisions.
Consistency
Where possible, we aim to provide the same companion so that trust and familiarity can develop. If the usual companion is unavailable, we will communicate this and discuss appropriate alternatives.
Safeguarding
Any concern about the safety or wellbeing of an older person is taken seriously. SAATH has safeguarding procedures for reporting, recording and escalating concerns appropriately.
Concerns or Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service, we want you to tell us. Concerns will be listened to, documented where appropriate and addressed through our complaints and safeguarding procedures.
