Our Services

Everyday Companionship. Meaningful Support.

SAATH focuses on companionship and practical social support. Our service is designed for older people who remain relatively independent but would benefit from regular company, encouragement or someone trusted accompanying them through everyday life.

Companionship Visits

Sometimes the most valuable thing is simply having someone there. A companion can spend time talking, listening, reading, sharing tea, playing games, looking through photographs or simply enjoying someone's company. Visits are shaped around the individual rather than following a rigid programme.

Conversation & Social Interaction

Regular conversation can make a significant difference for someone who spends long periods alone. Our companions take time to listen, engage and build genuine familiarity.

Shopping Companionship

A companion can accompany an older person on local shopping trips, helping make everyday errands feel less difficult and more enjoyable.

Appointment Accompaniment

Medical and other appointments can sometimes feel daunting when attended alone. Where appropriate, a SAATH companion can accompany the individual to an appointment, provide companionship while travelling and remain with them during the visit where permitted. SAATH companions do not provide medical advice or make medical decisions.

Wellbeing Visits

Families sometimes simply want reassurance that their loved one has regular human contact. A companion can visit, spend time with the individual and provide an agreed update to the family afterwards.

Family Updates

Where the older person has agreed, SAATH can provide appropriate updates following visits. This can be particularly reassuring for relatives who live further away or cannot visit as frequently as they would like.

Walks & Outings

Keeping a connection with the outside world

Depending upon the individual's circumstances, companionship may include:
  • Local walks
  • Visiting a café
  • Going to the park
  • Visiting friends
  • Attending community activities
  • Visiting places of worship
  • Cultural or social outings

What SAATH Does Not Provide

SAATH is a companionship service, not a nursing or personal-care provider. Our companions do not provide regulated personal care or clinical services. This includes:

  • Washing, bathing or toileting
  • Dressing as a personal-care task
  • Medication administration
  • Nursing or clinical procedures
  • Medical advice
  • Moving and handling requiring specialist care
  • Services that require a regulated care provider

If an individual's needs change, we will discuss this with the individual and, where appropriate and consented to, their family. Our priority will always be to ensure that SAATH remains suitable and safe for the person we are supporting.
